Privacy Policy
Plain-language summary first, full detail below. We treat the data you trust us with carefully.
Last updated: June 2026
The short version: We collect the minimum needed to run CiteWard — your account details and the content you create. We do not sell your data. We do not use your queries to train third-party models. You can export or delete your data at any time.
1. Who we are
CiteWard ("we", "us") operates the citeward.com website and the CiteWard medical education and decision-support application. This policy explains what we collect and why.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: email address and authentication data, and optional profile details (career stage, exam target, institution).
- Content you create: questions you ask, notes, study plans, flashcards, and other material you generate in the app.
- Usage data: standard logs (pages visited, feature usage, approximate region, device/browser) used to keep the service reliable and secure.
3. How we use it
- To provide and personalise the service (e.g. tailoring study plans and answers to your stated exam target).
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce rate limits.
- To improve features and fix problems.
4. AI processing
To answer questions, the text of your query may be sent to our AI infrastructure providers for processing. We do not sell your content, and we do not permit it to be used to train third-party foundation models. Do not enter directly identifying patient information; CiteWard is a learning and decision-support tool, not a record system.
5. Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that run CiteWard (hosting, database, AI inference, analytics), each under contract to protect it — and where required by law. We do not sell personal data.
6. Data retention & your rights
You can access, export, or delete your data from within the app or by contacting us. We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service or meet legal obligations. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR/UK GDPR, CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or erase your data.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. See our Security page for more.
8. Children
CiteWard is intended for users aged 16 and over (or the age of digital consent in your country) and is built for medical learners and professionals.
9. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, in-app notice.
